If You Run – Lyrics and Composition by Heather Inwood-Montrose (written May 2012)
Verse 1
Take a stand if you must don’t stand too long though, once the world was flat
Take a hand if you need don’t hold too tight no, we all need our hands
CHORUS
If you run from yourself you’ll find there’s, no where to hide, no where to turn
When you run from yourself and find there’s no where to hide
You will feel me, yeah you will feel me
Verse 2
Searched for myself changed my clothes guess I felt cover defined a sense of self
Moved around location, location, caught up with other restless souls
Searched for myself cut my hair grow it out, hide away or stand out
Assess, reassess what parts I can handle need to get it out think I’ll start a band oh
CHORUS
Verse 3
Oh, mirror mirror on the wall, I don’t care, I don’t care what I see
I feel most like myself when I’m out where it’s green
And I can breathe, I can breathe I can breathe
CHORUS
When I run from myself I find there’s no where to hide, no where to turn
Yeah when I run from myself and find there’s no where to hide
I will feel me, yeah I will feel me yeah I feel me… Oh yes

The Story Goes On
Lyrics and Composition by Heather Inwood-Montrose
2008
The openings always the best, once upon a time and the rest
Of that fairy tale we’re all hoping for
But on the story goes, I write the parts and the prose
Waiting for the act when the knight turns up at the door
Things haven’t climaxed yet, though ups and downs I guess
All manner of characters and a plot that unfolds
There’ve been a number who’ve tried, to win my heart but I’m
Patiently waiting for the one who makes me say
I never thought of it that way
And on the open road I find my soul you know
Coastal views and the ocean waves speak to me
Just like the perfect chords can strike you to your core
Stop you in your tracks while you wait to hear the next note
To see where the story goes
So the openings always the best, just like a road trip with no rest
What lies ahead is unknown but still several guarantees
Not always joy and fun, but if you’re lucky enough to find one
Who can read the map and drive and who’s interested, focused on the journey
Well that would be enough for me

Song for Travellers
Lyrics and Composition by Heather Inwood-Montrose
January 2009
I’m on a journey, life flowing through me
I’m gonna wander wherever the road goes
No turning round now, blessing abound now
Long lies the road leading back to my home
Wonder of wonders, history lies under
The very tracks on which my tired feet tread
And I’m creating mine, in my own time
Weight of the past like a worn cloak shed
I think I’ll rest under this tree
Cool soil, rustling leaves
Sun on my face, wind at my back
There’s nothing in this world I could possibly lack
But you, by my side
Thought you’re on my mind
I’m on a journey, life flowing through me
Soon I’ll return to the land of my home
Blessings abound now, full circle round now
All I have seen helps me value my own
Wonder of wonders, heart beat like thunder
As round my neck your sweet arms are thrown
The joy of reunite! Souls take flight
Wearies of travel to the breeze is blown
Some let us rest, under our tree
Cool soil, rustling leaves
Sun on our face, wind at our backs
There’s nothing in this world I could possibly lack
With you by my side
With you by me side
I’m on a journey, life flowing through me
I’m gonna wander, wherever the road goes

Miss You
Lyrics and Composition by Heather Inwood-Montrose
June 2008
Picking C, G, F
Life these days goes by so fast and I’m
Closing doors on all my past
And the friends who once stood by me nowhere to be seen
How we swore we’d never change
The bonds that tied time couldn’t erase
But they’ve slipped somehow, we’re gone now
Sometimes I miss you
Sometimes I miss you
I used to think I could not go
On without being in the know
Or included in activities silly me
What I have learned as I have lived
Is you get back just what you give and I’ve given
Oh how I’ve given
But I’m getting by, I’m moving on
Oh my old friend it’s been so long and I’m better off
Yes I’m better off
But sometimes I miss you
Sometimes I miss you
I can’t forget those who’ve shaped me
Especially the ones whose impact has made me become more
Than I was through those old doors
But sometimes I miss you
Sometimes I miss you

Moonglow – Lyrics and Composition by Heather Inwood-Montrose (written Jan 2012)
Verse 1
Moonglow I know, it’s waiting for me
Room low light show you waiting for me
Open floor stepped up to you all else in shadow but for you, you glow for me
Room fade, light play, have you more for me?
Verse 2
Sun glow I know, you’re aching for me
Lay low, dare show your feelings for me
Open door step out and through, I cast a shadow onto you, watching me
Eyes show old soul, waking for me
Bridge
Let us be, Let us be…
Verse 3
Gentle, mindful, walk lovingly
We’ll take things slow, tread patiently
Open wide step out and through there will balance this is true, measure me
Time shows some souls, harmony
Bridge
Let us be, let us be, let us be….

Snowflakes

Snowflakes – written, arranged & composed by Heather Inwood-Montrose Apr 2007
Picking in D, then E, A
Snow is drifting down, ice crystals desperate to reach the ground before spring
I am drifting round, the memories of people whose voices still sing to me
So many who have touched my life like snowflakes each unique in their own right
Melt into me, I am the ground; my depths are safe and cool for hanging around
But it’s fair trade you see, for you are also feeding me
That’s the beauty, of humans living cohesively
So like snowflakes we’re all drifting around, life cycles helping feed our grounds for spring
Then miraculously as our lives take root – co-mingled we morph into something grand and new
Community is what it’s called – together we stand and divided well surely we’ll fall fall fall
I’m thankful for all who’ve been my ground, whose depths were safe and cool for hanging around
It was fair trade you know, the give and take is how we grow
That’s the beauty, of humans living cohesively
So unique snowflake when you’re drifting around, sometimes it’s ok to hit the ground falling
Your community’s what you make of it
Each life cycle takes and it gives, we take and give
If you haven’t seemed to find one yet – plant your roots where you’ve fallen friend and stay for a bit
We’re more than willing to share this ground
If it feels like home well consider sticking around
I’m sticking around
And I’m sticking it out

The Dryer Song – Written & Composed by Heather Inwood – Montrose
May 2005
Standard tuning
Picking A/G
The humming tumbling drier numbs me
Dulls my weary brain
And the softly falling night shroud calms me
As does the sprinkling rain
And combined my senses all rejoice
To find myself again
Who’dve thought the tumbling humbling drier
Could make me feel ashamed
It’s time to simplify
Yeah simplify
It’s time to simplify
Just tumble dry
The hours and hours and hours slip by
And swiftly turn to days
Caught in the web their passing weaves
I’m always left amazed
And I fear the years and years will pass
And only be a haze
So help me tumbling, humbling drier
Help me find the ways
It’s time to simplify
Yeah simplify
It’s time to simplify
Just tumble dry

In My Garden – Lyrics and Composition by Heather Inwood-Montrose (written May31/June1 2013)
Verse 1
In my garden, I think of you; oceans between us, not much to do
So I plant seeds, and watch them, grow (OM); tiny garden, secrets you hold
Time goes by, connecting fine; you’re on my mind, am I on your line
Open heart and, nothing but time; land lies solid, but the layers the layers hold truth
BRIDGE
Lights in the dark, head pressed to mine, holding us close this time
Verse 2
Don’t get me wrong, I’m steady we’re cool; I’d still feel blessed, with or without you
Though it would be a shame, not to try you on (OM); do you think we could be more than a song?
BRIDGE
Lights in the dark, head pressed to mine, holding us close, outside of time
Feels so real, not a figment of mind, hoping for peace this time
Verse 3
In my garden, I think of you, planting intentions, peace hope and truth
Holding space to, see what they will do (OM); growing the story of me and you
BRIDGE
Lights in the dark, head pressed to mine, holding us close, outside of time
Feels so real, not a figment of mind, hoping for peace this time.

Love Song

|

Love Song – written, arranged & composed by Heather Inwood-Montrose 2004
(D, A, E, Bb) picking pattern or intermittent
When you look at me, who do you see;
What do I show? Where will this go?
When you look at me, oh I feel;
Like there is no, other to know
All I’ve to give and be - reality or fantasy
When you look at me, oh I believe;
That I’m the most (lovely) beautiful
When you look at me, my world it seems;
Like so much more, than it was before
All life can give and be - reality or fantasy
REFRAIN
And I will love you always, our love will only grow
Please say you’ll always be with me, so I’ll forever know
When you look at me, oh you feel;
Like you’re the most, beautiful
When you look at me, oh you believe,
That there is no other to know
All life can give and be - reality and fantasy
All life can give and be – the love between you and me.

Pristine Prisms – Written & Composed by Heather Inwood – Montrose
April 2013
E, Cm, D6, Ddim
I feel thin, but not the weighted kind
I’m on the wind, not only in my mind
Edges of the edges of the edges of the edges
I wanted in…
I feel grand! Though I’m not talking size
Count on one hand, troubles on my mind
Edges of the edges of the edges of the edges
I’m blending in…
Bridge
Fragile Fracture, Fragments Fractal
Pristine Prisms, Promise Primal
Back in my shell, to my surprise I find
I don’t want in, that’s my altered mind
Edges of the edges used to edges of the edges
I don’t fit in
I feel grand! Of the galactic kind
Breathe and expand, into the universal mind
Edges losing edges of the edges losing edges
Lit from within…
Bridge
Fragile Fracture, Fragments Fractal
Pristine Prisms, Promise Primal
Pristine Prisms…. Bells….
